Welcome to the small town of Comala! Nestled at the foot of a magical (and active!) volcano, Comala recently won #1 Magical Town (Pueblo Mágico) in Mexico. Located only a 2.5-hour easy drive southwest of the International Airport of Guadalajara (GDL), Comala is known as the “white town of the Americas”. Its main characteristics are homes painted in white, cobblestone roads, horseback riders strolling the streets, a fantastic view of the volcano, its amazing coffee region, delicious, sweet bread pastries, traditional and natural beverages, such as “ponche” and “tuba”, lush green nature and flowers blooming all year round. Let’s not forget the warmth, heartfelt, laid-back attitude of its inhabitants who still take the time to say “hello” in the streets to perfect strangers. Comala, to say the least, is still a typical traditional Mexican town of central.

Western Mexico (and a hidden gem)

Come live and enjoy life over 7 days (from December 11-18, 2022) for a cultural and language immersive experience where you will not only be able to learn new and important conversational expressions in Spanish, but local slang that will help you integrate within the local culture shortly after having arrived.

This program is for those who long to connect with the Mexican culture, its people and nature. No matter what your Spanish level currently is, our mission is for you to live a heartfelt experience in Comala at all 3 levels- mind, body & spirit.

Every morning, you will start off with a couple of hours of conversational Spanish lessons, with an experienced and qualified SSL teacher, within a small group setting. Then, in the pm you will either experience nature and culture by visiting beautiful and magical sites of the local area and volunteering to help out the local community.

Accommodations are included in the package where you will have a choice of staying in a beautiful and typical Comala style Inn or in a unique boutique B&B for a VIP experience.

Last day of the program (Saturday, Dec. 17th) is a self-care day. This is an optional day for you to relax and enjoy some alternative activities/therapies that are beneficial not only for the body but for the mind & soul. You can either book an appointment with a unique channeler, get a therapeutic/energy massage or participate in a “Temazcal” (type of sweat lodge) which is a pre-Hispanic Indigenous religious ceremony that helps purify body and spirit. These options are charged separately and directly to those who provide these services. Don’t speak Spanish? No problem; you can hire an interpreter to accompany you if needed.

Why am I hosting this innovative immersion experience?

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, I moved down to Mexico (Puerto Vallarta) when I was 18 years old. I soon after moved to Guadalajara where I enrolled in university and obtained my bachelor’s degree in Sociology, all in Spanish! Fast forward 21 years later, I am now a proud Mexican dual citizen living in one of the hidden gems of Mexico: the state of Colima. For over 8 years now, I have been running my tour business (MeshicoMagical.com) out of Comala, sharing the love and passion that I have for this remarkable country and people. I offer and have offered numerous tours in the Western states of Mexico. Over time, I have gained a deep knowledge of the Mexican culture, immersing myself in places and situations that have been not only very enriching personally and professionally but also spiritually. Today, I help future expats and expats integrate culturally in their adoptive country: Mexico. This is why I have created this immersion experience. It is a gateway for people to not only immerse in the culture for a brief moment but also connect with themselves and the people who have so graciously opened their hearts and home to a foreigner like myself. This immersion experience is for a max. capacity of 12 people. Don’t miss out!

Why attend?

  • It is an opportunity to fully immerse yourself into the Mexican Culture and Spanish language
  • You will experience the magic of the region: the volcano of fire, lush green nature, delicious regional cuisine, etc.
  • And most importantly, you will have heartfelt connections with people.
